The Giving Garden
In 2020, in the midst of the COVID crisis, more than 50 volunteers helped Kittery Land Trust manage a hugely successful “Giving Garden” on one of the fields at Nooney Farm, growing nearly 2000 pounds of fresh produce for the Kittery school lunch program, Footprints Food Pantry, and other local food shelters.
Since then, with the help of many volunteers, the Giving Garden has grown!
Join our amazing group of volunteers in the Giving Garden and flower field this season. Last year donating 7,509 pounds of fresh produce to seven different organizations fighting food insecurity in our community. We cut over 30,000 stems of flowers for our CSA, pick-your-own, and weddings. With your help this year's crop will yield even more. Whether you're a beginner or experienced gardener, we would love to have you join us at Nooney Farm. If you have any questions, please contact Farm Manager Alex Keenan at [email protected].

Flower CSA shares
CSA members will enjoy our bountiful harvest every week for 16 weeks during the 2025 season (June 19th-October 2nd). By becoming a member, you ensure a consistent supply of blooms for your home or business while helping us to have the necessary funds, at the beginning of the season, to purchase seeds, transplants, and compost. All proceeds from these CSA shares will be reinvested into the farm and other land stewardship programs of The Kittery Land Trust.
Enjoy a weekly hand-tied bouquet of seasonal flowers. Each one consists of a generous selection of show-stopping blooms including lisianthus, dahlias, zinnias, snapdragons, celosia, gomphrena, marigolds, cosmos, amaranth, rudbeckia, nigella, calendula, and a range of everlastings, as well as unique and aromatic foliage.
Your bouquets will be available for pick up at Nooney Farm located at 22 Stevenson Road in Kittery, Maine. Bouquet shares will await you after 3 pm on Thursdays and can be picked up, at your convenience, through Saturday evening. We recommend that you come sooner rather than later, as flowers are perishable. Shares that have not been collected by 6 pm on Saturday will be donated.

Need more reasons to shop for local, organically grown flowers? Did you know...
- Energy: The farther flowers are grown from the end consumer, the more time spent in transit. Air freighting and trucking flowers long distances is energy intensive. Cut flowers must be refrigerated after harvest to ensure freshness. Cold-chain shipping in airplanes, trucks, warehouses and storage rooms require more energy than flowers grown close to the client.
- Chemicals: Imported flowers must be dipped in fungicides to comply with import regulations. Domestic flowers aren’t subject to foreign pest chemical protocols. Flowers grown with minimal pesticides and fertilizers protect the land, workers, and all who touch flowers.
- Land use: Some farmers steward their lands in more ecologically sound ways than others. For example, using minimal irrigation during growing and handling; protecting surrounding aquifers; making decisions that take biodiversity and habitat protection into consideration are ways to protect the health of the land.
- Waste: Sustainable farmers minimize landfilled debris by composting botanical scraps; choosing reusable, recyclable or compostable containers; and minimal packaging.
- Consumption: From field to vase, sustainable floristry means doing more with less, and making choices that minimize the environmental impact of cut flowers.
About Nooney Farm
On December 15, 2020, Kittery Land Trust permanently protected a 30-acre property tucked away in the center of the community, just steps from the town’s middle school on Stevenson Road. Instead of a 7-home subdivision, the fertile fields and woodlands of a former dairy farm have become a hub for local agriculture, education, and outdoor recreation. Nooney Farm amplifies the Trust’s work “Saving Land and Building Community”.
